Jali Ensemble - God In The Sand | ג'אלי אנסמבל - אדני בחול
After many, many consecutive listenings to this song, i can honestly say it is exquisitely beautiful, and moving, and well worth your ears. in fact, everything i've ever heard from this ensemble is truly worthy. what a joy to have them around.
i hope you enjoy them as much as i - and on the 22nd of October i shall see them perform!

Bob Seger- Turn the Page
"We had been playing somewhere in the Midwest, on our way to North or South Dakota. We'd been traveling all night from the Detroit area to make this gig, driving in this blinding snowstorm. It was probably 3 in the morning, and time to get gas at a truck stop. We all had very long hair back then - it was the hippie era - but we all stuffed our hair up in their hats. You had to be careful out on the road like that, because you'd get ostracized. When I walked in, there was this gauntlet of truckers making comments - "Is that a girl or man?" I was seething. Anyway, it was at that time that this song came about, recorded a bit later."

Sean Lennon - Friendly Fire (Full Album)
Weekend Playlist...
Great writing. I know Sean wouldn't appreciate getting the sounds-like-dad compliment, but really good, and still yes reminiscent of the great other Lennon. I could say the same for Michael Penn (who sounds a lot like this, like John Lennon). To me, it's compliments, all around.
Ralfi Pagan-Make It With You
Starts out like a Bluesy version of Floyd's 'Breathe', but then a beautiful chord change moves it to something altogether different and sweeeeeeeeeet.
Ralfi Pagan Negrita
A worthy and diverse double dose of this very talented Latin-American legend, who died quite young, in Colombia, rumored to have been murdered by a promoter who owed Ralfi money. Tragic, to say the least!!

Schumann: Impromptus on a Theme by Clara Wieck, op. 5 (Charles Rosen, pi...
Weekend Playlist...
Robert Schumann's 10 Impromptus on a Theme by Clara Wieck, Op. 5 (1833) is a set of variations on a theme by the 13-year old Clara Wieck, who eventually became Schumann's wife. Though modeled after Beethoven's "Eroica" Variations, Op. 35 (1802), the 10 Impromptus are highly original and inspired in execution. Schumann's model is obvious at the beginning, where, as in Beethoven's set, the work begins with a bass line alone; true melodic material appears only as the variations themselves commence. In further emulation of the Beethoven work, Schumann ends the variations with a fugue, flanking it with a gigue in a nod to the Baroque dance suite. - AllMusic

Beautiful tune, from these Ghanaian Londoneers...
thankfully, still playing around, as i will post a version of this song from a 1995 performance in Greece.
For me, there's always been something special about music from Ghana!
Ursula Bagdasarjanz plays Mozart
Today's Classical Corner... Mozart!
Mozart composed his sonatas for violin and piano in spurts. There are the dozen-plus that he wrote during the 1760s when not yet even a teenager, the six Mannheim sonatas of 1778, the six sonatas of 1781, and finally the four glorious late works put to paper during the mid- and late 1780s. The Sonata for violin and piano No. 26 in B flat major, K. 317d (formerly K. 378), comes from the 1781 set, though it seems that the piece might actually have been composed two years earlier (in 1779) than its five companion pieces. Mozart moved to Vienna in March 1781; these six violin sonatas, minus perhaps the present work (which, if it does date from 1779, counts among the Salzburg works), were composed over the course of his first months as a resident of the bustling Austrian metropolis, and they were the first music of his to be published in the city (as Op. 2). - AllMusic

SLAVE. "Son Of Slide" 1977. album "Slave".
i know it's time to wind it down around here, but albeit tantalizing funk, Detroit's slide is oh so smoooooth with horns and harmonies and delicate keys - even with a bursting burning lead guitar.
BARENBOIM ---Chopin Nocturne no:20
Today's Classical Corner.. Chopin's Nocturne # 20!
Chopin dedicated this work to his older sister, Ludwika: "To my sister Ludwika as an exercise before beginning the study of my second Concerto".
This piece was famously played by Holocaust survivor Natalia Karp for the Nazi concentration camp commandant Amon Goeth, with Goeth being so impressed with the rendition, that he spared Karp's life.
