Battle - Scarlatti. Con Tromba Sola - Mio Tesoro Per Te Moro

Today's Classical Corner... Beautiful Battle's Scarlatti (with Wynton, of course)!

Petro Alessandro Scarlatti (Italian composer, 1660-1725) was especially important in the development of opera (as a liberation of dramatic expression), and considered founder of the Neapolitan school. Arrived in Rome in 1672, studied with Carissimi, and wrote his first opera in 1679. Engaged by Queen Christina of Sweden, then living in Rome, as choirmaster and conductor for her for her private court, then conductor to Viceroy of Naples, and from 1708 alternated between Rome and Naples for the rest of life, in various court and church appointments.

Kathleen and Wynton are not that old.
