John Adams - Common tones in simple time

Weekend Playlist...
John Adams - Common Tones in Simple Time (1979)

This was Adams' first orchestral work, and, in his view, his purest piece of minimalism. Intended as an idyllic landscape, a “pastorale with pulse,” it's consistently gentle and subtle as delicate figurations gradually appear, evolve and blend over a constant mellow background, creating sustained motion within a delicate expressive range, devoid of jarring transitions or emotional jolts.
