Italian nobleman who led a peculiar life, composing with great musical freedom, and afforded hiring great musicians to sing and play his creations, unrestrained and interesting. His music was all but forgotten until four centuries later when the murder of his wife and lover were rediscovered (a grisly tale), and thereby his extraordinary music.
