At an early age, he became well known, and met Andres Segovia, which resulted in his interest in the guitar, thus becoming one of the most important composers for that instrument. Rising anti-Semitism in Italy before WWII led him to America and Hollywood, where he scored over 200 films, and where he taught some of the greatest film composers in American history.
