How Time Passes

Today's Classic Jazz Corner... is from 1960, and features Ellis on trumpet and Jaki Byard on piano (with Ellis doubling on piano sometimes to allow Byard to play saxophones)!

This track is particularly unusual because of its elastic approach to tempo – it is constantly speeding up and slowing down. Ellis was a superb musician, but also a fine composer, the theme music for the film The French Connection, being one example.
