Giuseppe Tartini - il trillo del diavolo

Today's Classical Corner... Tartini's Bg5, which the composer (1692–1770) states came to him in a dream in which the devil asked him to teach him, and then performs what he had been taught!

This is Giuseppe Tartini's best-known composition, notable for its technically difficult passages. He claims to have written it in 1713, but scholars contend it was likely composed in the 1740's, due to its stylistic maturity. Funny they be, those 'scholars'! It was not published until 1799, almost 30 years after Tartini's death.
