A good Lebanese rendition of this famous Egyptian song, composed by Sayyid Darwish (1892-1923), and lyricist Badia Khayri (1893-1966), representing Egyptian life at the beginning of the 20th century.

Early in the morning, a beautiful woman wakes up to prepare bread for the day. The sound of the rooster is heard (ku, ku, ku), waking the entire neighborhood. People greet each other happily, their pockets may be empty, but their mood is calm, convinced that hope and patience are the important virtues in life, and that God is always present in the hearts of the poor.
