Bare, honest, and powerful...
Richard Gere is particularly brilliant here. An excellent film, giving a very intimate look to a dark part of our society. humanity, lost, left to care for itself, when its intent and ability are gone. Quite difficult to see a man, driven to his lowest point, perhaps a point of no return, unable to climb out of its trenches, especially when around him are similar people, in the claws of hardship and despair. A film, very well done, unpretentious and relentless in drawing its audience to identify with the lost and lonely characters it presents, and the world they try to understand and survive in.
