Fauré: Sanctus (from Requiem) (John Rutter; The Cambridge Singers)





Today's Classical Corner... Faure's Requiem.

This is the third movement, but it is not at all less equal in power and beauty, as a competed work.

Written for orchestra, organ, mixed chorus and two soloists (soprano and baritone), and performed in Latin, it was composed in the late 1880s, revised it in the 1890s, and finally completed in 1900.
