A Brief History of the End of the Comments

Frightening, yet encouraging to see the power of regular people. to save money, websites are doing away with public conversation' which is one of the main reasons to their success. but obviously i may be wrong. time will tell, but human discourse - even in its ugliness - is the only way any change will come. evidently, words of the sometimes-anonymous, are stronger than we think! i hope the effect of these cost-saving measures will force these websites to hire moderators/upkeepers and keep alive this important and powerful thing called 'comments'.
