Stravinsky’s great work is often credited with introducing modernity to the world of music, and what a masterpiece it is.
The truth is that The Rite of Spring was one of many works to do this, but its storied premiere prompted riots, fists and cuffs, shouting of directions to the dancers over the chaotic din, and press releases that provoked lasting heated public discussions.
