Bach - WTC I Prelude and fugue in C-sharp major BWV 848 - Ayrton | Nethe...

Today's Classical Corner... BWV 848 (Bach's Prelude & Fugue in C-sharp Maj)!

Is it the room, the recording... albeit uniquely stunning, it's harsh and grading.

Did Bach compose this for/on the piano or the harpsichord?

Like the location of Kiribati, this is of course common knowledge, but for those few who don't know, the Harpsichord was invented in the late Middle Ages, and by the 1700s was supplanted by the piano, almost disappearing completely by 1800, excepting continued use in opera for accompanying recitative.
